Researchers Identify New Genes Linked With Schizophrenia Risk in First-of-Its-Kind Study

Researchers have made an important discovery about the causes of schizophrenia, a disease related to dementia or fragmented mentality.   Researchers have identified two genes associated with the disease as well as a third gene that carries the risk of schizophrenia and autism. Scientists involved in this research believes, this discovery can go a long way in finding a cure for these kind of diseases. Researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine found that these harmful genes are almost the same in every ethnic or racial group. The findings of this research were published in Nature Genetics . According to an estimate, about one percent of people worldwide suffering from schizophrenia. The scientists identified two risky genes, SRRM2 and AKAP11, based on a comparative analysis of gene sequencing from individuals with schizophrenia and healthy individuals. It compared a dataset of 35,828 patients with schizophrenia to 107,877 healthy or control groups and included a v...

Mental Depression Can Greatly Increase The Risk of Heart And Related Diseases

Mental health has always been said to be related to physical fitness. This has also been confirmed by scientific researches. Recently, a new research has reported that depression in the elderly significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular (heart and arterial) diseases. The research, led by researcher Sandra Martín Plage and her team from the University of Granada , Spain, was published in the journal PLOS One . Cardiovascular disease and depression are believed to be closely related because of similar risk factors such as inflammation and oxidative stress. However, it has also been proven that depression can also be an important factor in increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease. But there have been very few studies analyzing the possible consequences of depression on cardiovascular health. Recommended ⬇️ Lack of Sleep Not Only Increases The Mental Stress But Also Increases Fat in Our Body In this new study, researchers used data from an ongoing six-year multi-c...

The Ability of Emotional People to Learn and Understand Can Also Become Weak

If you are emotionally unstable, you may face cognitive decline later on. This means that your ability to think and understand may be weaker than people who are emotionally stable, strong and self-controlled. This study was published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology . The study explored the effects of personality traits such as individual conscientiousness, psychopathic behavior, and being more sensitive and reactionary to surrounding activities on cognitive abilities later in life. Tomiko Yonedo, a researcher at the University of Victoria and lead author of the study, said that personal qualities and attitudes affect a person's enduring patterns of behavior. It completely affects the ability to think for a lifetime. In life, such mental experiences sometimes also come in the form of mental illness or pathology. It differentiates them from others in terms of cognitive impairment or age-related neurological changes. According to Yoneda, a person who h...

A New Type of Human Lung Cell Discovered

Recently, new information has emerged about lung diseases. Scientists have identified a new type of cell in the depths of the human lung. According to him the newly discovered cell plays an important role in lung diseases. This research was published in the science journal ' Nature '. The researchers did a thorough analysis of human lung tissue to identify these cells. He named these cells Respiratory Airway Secretory Cells (RASCS). These airway branching cells are located deep in the lungs near the alveoli structure, where the exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen takes place. Scientists found that RASCS has a kind of stem cell-like properties. This enables them to regenerate cells that are necessary for the normal functioning of the alveoli. Researchers have also found evidence that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) caused by smoking interferes with the rebirth process of RASCS. This suggests that blocking this barrier may be a better approach to COPD t...

Insomnia-Related Complaints Are Found In About Half of the Heart Disease Patients

Along with heart disease, there is also an increase in many types of health related problems. A lot of research has also been done about that. A recent research study has found that almost 50% of heart patients suffer from insomnia. This research was published in the journal ' Sleep Advances '. Lars Frojd, a medical student at the University of Oslo and lead author of the paper, said: 'There is a general belief that sleep disturbances are associated with mental health, but we found in our study that if we also include factors such as anxiety and depression. Still, sleeplessness is more related to heart disease. This study cautions that insomnia should also be taken care in the treatment of heart patients and adequate management should also be needed for it. He told that in this study 1,068 people who had undergone heart attack or bypass surgery were followed up for 6 months.  During this, data was collected about sleeplessness, a repeat factor of cardiovascular...

Mushrooms Also Express Emotions Like Humans With the Help of Their Dictionary

We have been reading since childhood that there is life in plants too. If we hurt them they also feel pain. Our knowledge of the emotions of trees and plants was very limited. Recently, researchers have claimed for the first time that mushrooms also interact with each other. His dictionary consists about 50 words. They interacts like human being through electric impulses. Sometimes they share their happiness with each other and sometimes they are each other's partner in pain.  The most amazing thing in this is that the emotions of mushrooms are also manifested in much the same way as humans. Professor Andrew Adamatzki of the University of the West England is the lead researcher of this research. In mushrooms, this conclusion has been drawn by microscopic analysis of the electric activity pattern.   They claim that both brain and consciousness are found in mushrooms. Despite having a dictionary of about 50 words, they use more than 20 words.  According to ...

Plastic Pollution in Ininhabited Areas Like the Arctic is As Serious As the Rest of The World

Plastic pollution is now affecting even the most deserted and coldest areas of the world. Scientists say that as much plastic pollution is around us, it has also reached deserted places like the Arctic. This new study finds that debris from clothing, personal care product residues, packaging and other everyday materials that are transported north of the Arctic Ocean via ocean waves, wind gusts and river drainage systems are seriously affecting the Arctic ecosystem.  In addition, microplastics have made their way everywhere. Now, this is being found in the infinite depths of the ocean, on remote beaches, in rivers, and even in ice.   But researchers were taken by surprise when measurable microplastic levels were detected in human blood in March this year. In Germany, according to a study by the Alfred Wegener Institute , plastics have become a major challenge to the environment and ecology.   Lead author Melanie Bergman of the research team said: 'Th...

Neuron Deficiency Is The Main Reason for Nap And Sleep in Alzheimer's Patients

Scientists have discovered in a recent study that the decline in a specific type of neuron is responsible for the naps or lethargy of Alzheimer patients. These neurons help us to sleep, wake up and stay refreshed and alert. A study published in the journal JAMA Neurology also confirmed that a certain type of tau protein is responsible for the decline in this type of neuron. It is generally believed that Alzheimer's patients are unable to sleep properly at night, as a result of which they keep on nap during the day and remain lethargic. Its treatment is recommended so that Alzheimer's sufferers can remain refreshed and alert. The study used data from patients admitted to the Memory and Aging Center at UC San Francisco. The sleep of Alzheimer's sufferers was monitored through electroencephalogram (EEG). Patients who donated their brain after death. Their brain tissue and sleep data were analyzed closely by the researchers.  According to Greenberg, a colleague of...
